Brimingtons Wreath  laid at the Menin Gate, Ypres in September 2013
as a precursor for the forthcoming commemorations

During the coming four years there will be great focus on the First World War, villages and towns throughout Great Britain  the commonwealth and the world will pause, remember and commemorate the millions of men, women and children who died during those unimaginable brutal four years.

We are preparing too.  We've purchased the wreaths ready and embellished them with the words

Not Forgotten Brimington 1914-2014"
  (as pictured above)
We will lay a wreath - on behalf of Brimington at  the memorials where the Brimington soldiers are remembered  So  during the next four years there will be reminders of  the landmark disasters and the incredible bravery and fortitude of  millions of soldiers and civilians who battled through the most atrocious hostilities that could be dreamt up by their fellow men.

Lest We Forget

Brimington Memorial Gates
Centennial Wreath in remembrance of the beginning of the terrible conflict on 4th August 1914 which blighted our village.

Our visit to Belgium was planned  sometime ago to enable us to be there on 4th August - the anniversary of the outbreak of the war.  We stayed initially in Poperinge before moving on to our hotel in Ypres for the commemorations there.  We laid the following centennial wreaths on behalf of Brimington, at the 3 major memorials in the Ypres Salient battlefield where our village men are remembered.
